AppFollow is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join its fully remote Product Engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of scalable backend systems powering app review management, analytics, automation workflows, and AI-driven customer insights.

You will work on systems involving semantic analysis, review automation, APIs, and data processing while collaborating closely with product and platform engineering teams in a modern distributed environment.

• Develop and optimize AppFollow product functionality and backend services.
• Contribute to systems automating customer review interactions including tagging, responses, and report generation.
• Support systems that generate insights from app ratings and review data.
• Work on AI-driven technologies including semantic analysis and summarization solutions.
• Maintain and improve internal and public APIs for core platform entities.
• Design, build, document, and maintain scalable, secure, and testable backend systems.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve overall system architecture.
• Work with legacy services and support migration/improvement initiatives.
• Partner with Platform Engineering teams to ensure reliable deployment and operations across environments.

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• 3+ years of Python asyncio experience.
• Strong experience with FastAPI for API development.
• Advanced SQL knowledge with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Experience writing unit tests using Pytest.
• Upper-intermediate or higher English proficiency.
• Nice to have: Experience with NLP, LLMs, RAG systems, and ML projects.
• Nice to have: Experience with vector databases, Airflow/Prefect, AWS, and R&D projects.
