Job Description
Primer's Partners team is reimagining how third-party payment service providers unlock the power of Primer's unified payment infrastructure — providing a scalable and flexible platform for growth. You will join a cross-functional team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers working alongside Product, adopting a 'you build it, you own it' approach: owning infrastructure, testing, and QA end-to-end. You will design and implement high-quality, scalable backend services and APIs that empower both customers and third-party developers to integrate deeply with Primer's payment platform.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-quality, performant, and scalable backend services and APIs using Python.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, frontend, and mobile engineers to bring new features and integrations to life.
- Build and maintain reusable backend components, SDKs, and internal tools that empower customers and third-party payment service providers.
- Contribute to architectural and technical decisions within the Partners team.
- Drive and apply modern development practices such as TDD and BDD to ensure robust, maintainable code.
- Own infrastructure, testing, and QA end-to-end under the team's 'you build it, you own it' philosophy.
- Continuously improve performance, reliability, and scalability across the platform.
- Create clear internal documentation to support the systems and features you build.
- Contribute to and review code, always seeking ways to improve quality and team productivity.
Qualifications
- Strong backend engineering experience with Python as a primary language.
- Solid understanding of API design, microservices, and distributed payment systems.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure — AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Comfortable owning infrastructure and doing your own testing and QA.
- Strong understanding of best practices including test coverage, code review, CI/CD, and documentation.
- Self-starter who thrives in a remote-first, high-ownership environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across distributed, cross-functional teams.
